Sky + cable installation

Sky

If you want Sky installed, you must ensure that the following conditions are met by the installer:

  • The dish must be attached to the wall at the rear of the property
  • No telephone socket or telephone cable should be installed by Sky (see below)
  • The cable entering the property from outside must be fitted with a drip loop and must enter the property above skirting board level

Sky usually insists that a telephone socket is installed near the television. We do not consent to Sky fitting this socket as we have found that their work can cause unsightly damage to the property. If you would like a socket fitted, please contact us and we will arrange for an estimate to be obtained. Alternatively, you may be able to buy a telephone extension lead (eg from B&Q) – this extension lead must not be attached to the walls/ skirting board or run under the carpets.

It is your responsibility to ensure that the above conditions are adhered to. If not, you will be liable for the removal of the dish and any cabling and the cost of rectifying any associated damage.

Cable (Virgin Media)

The installation of cable can involve considerable damage to the property. The cable has to be connected from the pavement to the house and this may involve removing flags, concrete etc. There can also be considerable internal wiring required which is often not carried out to an acceptable standard.

If you wish to explore the possible installation of cable, you should meet with the cable company and find out precise details of what work is required before deciding whether you proceed.

If you install cable and any damage is caused to the property or unacceptable internal wiring is fitted, you will be liable for the full cost of putting the property back into the same condition as you found it.

If you have any queries regarding the above, please contact us.
