Vacuum cleaner
The vacuum cleaner is fitted with a new bag and has been checked to ensure that it is working correctly. Tenants are responsible for purchasing and changing the bag regularly and for the cost of fixing any blockages etc as they are generally caused by misuse. The vacuum cleaner must not be used without a bag. The vacuum cleaner will break if it accidentally picks up large items such as coins, matches, cigarette stubs etc. There are generally two settings on the vacuum cleaner – for carpets and for hard floors. You must make sure you use the correct setting.
Freezer
Please defrost the freezer regularly – we recommend every three months. If regular defrosting does not take place, the freezer may stop working. For the avoidance of doubt, frost-free freezers should be thoroughly defrosted on a regular basis even though there may be no obvious build-up of frost/ice. When you defrost the freezer, you should leave the appliance switched off with the door open for at least 24 hours. You should ensure towels are placed around/ under the freezer to prevent water leaks. You must not use knives, scrapers, hair dryers etc to speed up the defrosting process as this may break the appliance. In the event of the fridge or freezer not working for any reason, we are not liable for any loss/ damage in respect of contents and you should ensure that your contents insurance covers this type of loss.
Ignitors for gas hob + oven
You may need to buy matches or an ignitor in order to light the hob + oven.
Washing machine
Tenants are responsible for repairs caused by items being trapped in the filter or pump. Accordingly, you should check all clothing to ensure no coins, hair clips etc are accidentally put in the machine. Similarly, small items (eg socks, tights, underwear, colour catchers etc) can easily get trapped and cause a blockage to the machine – these items should therefore be placed in a mesh laundry bag. Tenants are also responsible for damage caused by overloading or uneven loads. The door must not be forced open for any reason and the tenants will be responsible for the cost of any damage to the door handle/ mechanism.
